ABOS KSB Faculty Participation

ABOS KSB Faculty Participation

To ensure a standard understanding of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery Knowledge, Skills, and Behavior (ABOS KSB) Program and provide expert instruction on how to provide competency-based assessments and valuable formative feedback, the ABOS is providing the ABOS KSB Learning Module for ABOS Diplomates who are ABOS KSB evaluators. Completing the module enables the ABOS Diplomate to receive ABOS SAE Credit. The ABOS KSB Learning Module is only open to ABOS Diplomates who have completed at least 10 ABOS KSB Surgical Skills assessments since January 2025.

The learning objectives of this educational activity are as follows:
The module will assist faculty in:

  1. Understanding the structure of the ABOS KSB Program and how it relates to residency education and ABOS Board Certification.
  2. Adopting a feedback framework to provide actionable feedback to residents
  3. Navigating real-life scenarios when giving formative feedback
  4. Supporting a Growth Mindset of Orthopaedic Surgery Residents

Instructions to access the ABOS KSB Learning Module:

  1. Login to your ABOS Diplomate Dashboard
  2. Click the link on bottom of the left menu: ABOS KSB Learning Module
  3. Enter your information (First Name, Last Name, Email, Residency Program) to validate completion of 10 ABOS KSB Surgical Skills assessments. If denied entry to module, please continue to respond to Surgical Skills assessments by residents until 10 are completed. If denied entry because contact information does not match what your residency program has entered, contact your Program Coordinator to confirm the First Name, Last Name, Email that they have on file for you.
  4. View each of the Educational Videos and read each of the Knowledge Sources
  5. Once complete, please proceed to answer the associated questions by clicking “Start Questions”
  6. Once you complete the assessment with at least 5/8 answered correctly, you will need to complete the attestation to receive your ABOS SAE Certificate (10 ABOS SAE credits valid for 5 years)
