Procedures Not to Include on Surgical Case Lists

To be considered a surgical case for the purpose of ABOS Certification and Maintenance of Certification and to be included in the ABOS Scribe Case List submission, an incision and some form of anesthetic is required. For example, fracture care that does not include some form of definitive skeletal fixation, percutaneous needling procedures, or manipulation of a joint under anesthesia do not rise to the level of an ABOS surgical case. Surgical procedures performed to treat non musculoskeletal-related conditions will be excluded. A partial list of procedures not to include in the Case List are below:
