Accommodations

The American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS) provides reasonable examination accommodations to individuals who meet certain requirements. All requests for accommodations will be considered on a case-by-case basis after the submission of required documentation.

ADA Accommodations
Those who need examination accommodations per the ADA should complete this form, attach supporting documents, and email all documents to accommodations@abos.org.

Breastfeeding Candidates
Breastfeeding Candidates who will need additional break time to pump may request a modified schedule by completing this form. The ABOS provides an option for breastfeeding individuals to take the ABOS Part I Examination over a two-day period with additional break time each day to allow for pumping.

Alternate Date
For Candidates unable to sit for the Part I Examination on July 11, 2024, due to life events such as childbirth and pregnancy, medical issues, military deployment, or family tragedy, the ABOS Part I Examination will also be administered on August 15, 2024, at Pearson VUE Test Centers.

To submit a request to sit for the Alternate Date ABOS Part I Examination, please complete this form with supporting documentation by March 15, 2024, and email it to accommodations@abos.org. All requests for alternate date testing will be reviewed by the ABOS Credentials Committee. If approved, Candidates may have to travel farther than preferred to an alternate Pearson VUE Test Center with available seats.
